The Wrap reports that Guardians' numbers look very respectable going into its opening weekend. The marketing campaign has been brilliant so far and has taken a pretty obscure title and really broadened the appeal. It has a budget of 170 million so it is has a ways to go. They should at the very least turn a small profit on it (the notion that it could outright bomb seems unlikely). Marvel has everything lined up and if it can make this weird space opera featuring a talking raccoon a bonafide hit, they will redefine the MCU. This is really gonna be exciting win or lose.
