Yesterday on the i09 mainpage there was this story that got everyone all upset about maybe making a sequel to It's A Wonderful Life.
First, I'm not really sure what the big deal is. Miracle On 34th Street gets remade every twenty or thirty years or so, and they are probably all good, or at least the ones I have seen are good.
Remake or sequel doesn't always equal bad. The second version of Invasion Of The Body Snatchers was better. The second version of The Fly was better. The Thing was better. The Empire Strikes Back was better.
And this thing that there are so sure that no one would ever do has already been done. There's already a sequel to It's A Wonderful Life called Clarence. I don't recall liking it that much, but I don't recall that it caused the end of civilization either.
And before that, there was a remake of It's A Wonderful Life. It Happened One Christmas originally aired in 1977. It was before It's A Wonderful Life was shown everywhere every December. I saw It Happened One Christmas first. I don't remember it being that bad. I remember when I first saw It's A Wonderful Life thinking this is just like that movie I already saw.
And again, it did not cause the end of civilization. It's just a movie. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Everything will be okay.
