When game designer Chris Perkins said this, "...people at Hasbro that never cared about D&D before, care about it now; Hollywood is fighting over it," I raised an eyebrow. Marvel's success seemed to be a stretch to pitch a D&D movie

But today's news of Hasbro buying Dreamworks made it click for me.

Sure they have other properties/franchises, but now it would be much easier to make an animated D&D movie with everyone in-house.

For me, the missing piece would be a studio team that cares for the property like they do at Marvel.
