Billy Graham wasn’t just the first black artist at Marvel. He was the only black artist at Marvel in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. And he just happened to have worked on both Luke Cage, Hero for Hire and on Don McGregor’s seminal run on Jungle Action featuring Black Panther. The New York Times has a great write-up about him here, but I just want to highlight some of the beautiful splash pages he did for Jungle Action.
Damn, he was good.
