Hunger Games concept art shows why it is good to take chances

To help create the futuristic control room that captivated Hunger Games audiences VFX Supervisor Sheena Duggal hired this week's Focus artist, Reid Southen.

Reid designed many of the various interfaces you saw used in the control room in the movie.

Some, like the Fire Interface, didn't make it in.

But, as impressive as his work on the Hunger Games was, it wasn't what drew him to my attention originally. It was some of his other works in his gallery that I first noticed. And, while I may overuse the term, they are fantastic.

This is the piece of artwork that first caught my eye. I think everyone can agree it's phenomenal. I've also included a few of my other favorites.

He even created this fantastic animation of the ISS in orbit. Make sure to check out his gallery. He also has a blog where he talks about his art and provides resources and tips for other artists. I'd suggest giving it a visit.
