Miscalibrated Internet Receptor Stalks

Hypothetical TV: DC's All-Star Superman

There is a rumor that Warner Bros and the CW want a Superman spin-off – and that the “Elseworlds” crossover would be a backdoor pilot for it (as well as one for the Batwoman spin-off). The problem with that, however, is how do you differentiate it with Supergirl? Or with any of the other Superman-related TV shows we’ve had in the past (Smallville, Superman: The Animated Series, Lois & Clark, The Adventures of Superboy, etc)? Superman, because of his popularity and longevity, has been done many, many times and even shows not exactly about him (like Supergirl and Krypton) borrow heavily from the Man of Steel’s mythos.

So, again, how do you make another Superman show? Well, you can base it on one of the very best Superman stories that has ever been written. You can make a Superman show unlike any other superhero show.

You can make All-Star Superman.

1x01 – “Secret Origin”

Doomed planet. Desperate scientists. Last hope. Kindly couple. Everyone knows the story of Superman – but is this is how it ends? It will be if Lex Luthor has anything to say about it.

1x02 – “Deadline”

Superman is dying. An overdose of solar radiation is killing his cells. But even that won’t stop him as he sets out to save Lois from Intergang.

1x03 – “Future Shock”

Two visitors from the future come back to warn Superman...or did they? Could even the Legion of Super Heroes have ulterior motives?

1x04 – “The Adventures of Turtle Boy and Insect Queen”

A visit from Lana Lang brings back memories for Clark. Lois goes to Dr. Leo Quintim to find a cure for Superman.

1x05 – “The Gospel According to Lex Luthor”

Lex Luthor agrees to be interviewed by Clark Kent. Unfortunately, it’s also the same day that the Parasite is being transferred into Stryker’s Island.

1x06 – “Learning to Fly”

Flashbacks show how young Clark learned how to fly as as older Clark finds his powers going haywire.

1x07 – “The Bizarro War”

Bizarro is back...and he brought friends. Can the world survive the invasion of the imperfect duplicates?

1x08 – “Escape from the Underverse”

Superman is trapped in Bizarro world and needs to escape before the last of his powers goes away. Is there anyone that could help? How about a Bizarro of Bizarro?

1x09 – “Ghost Stories”

When he was young, Clark thought the Kent barn was haunted, but perhaps he was right. Who is the Phantom King and what does he want?

1x10 – “Funeral in Smallville”

A flashback to the day Jonathan Kent died. Nothing will prepare young Clark for this.

1x11 – “The Dust of Dead Stars”

One last day before Superman is destined to die. One last day to enjoy with friends and family. One last chance to make a better world.

1x12 – “Red Sun Day”

Lex Luthor has teamed up with Solaris the Tyrant Sun, turning the sun red and taking away what little powers Superman had. On the run, Clark knows this is how it will end, but he has to face evil one last time.

1x13 – “Superman at the End of Days”

Everything comes back. The final villain is revealed. The last moments are here. It’s okay. You’re much stronger than you think you are.
