But it seems that I was mistaken. Several days ago I noticed that my ring and pinky fingers were feeling a bit tingly/numb. Kinda like the feeling you get when a body part has fallen asleep and is in the process of waking up. A quick Google search led me to conclude that I somehow pinched my ulnar nerve.
Seemingly a coincidence, my elbows had felt sore periodically over the past month. I attributed this to the fact that I constantly lean on them on my desk, and I sleep on my side so one arm is usually under the body while the other is bent so it's under my pillow. My attribution turns out to be correct.
So as it turns out, the soreness in the elbows was a sign that my ulnar was under stress. This led to the current finger issue. So rather than the carpal tunnel I had always assumed I would end up with, my doctor buddy has informed me that I have acquired the nearly as delightful cousin, cubital tunnel syndrome. No leaning on the elbows, no sleeping on my side, required use of splints to keep the arm straight while sleeping, and some annoying stretches is what I have to look (not lean) forward to. I'm quite annoyed at myself.
So here's a random photo of Portal cosplay
