Miscalibrated Internet Receptor Stalks

Idea for Kinja Improvement

This is an idea that I've had for a spell now. Since I have a finally have a Saturday where I have a ton of time to get to the random things on my list, ya'll are getting it now.

The Idea: I think Kinja needs to have profile pages for members.

Maybe this has been presented before, but here's my pitch. Kinja is supposed to be this platform where the Gawker network can pull content by it's own commenters and promote them. They want posts on their sub forums to be more packaged and ready for promotion, right? So editors and the like can curate from the population. The idea of people having their own sub-blogs is even encouraged.

And I think that's a great idea! I think it allows people who would like to write to have an outlet where they can strengthen their chops. It also makes it easier for the sites to find content and push it out quickly instead of running through tips and having to find someone on staff to do a write up. However, my thought is there needs to be some kind of profile page or "About Me" afforded to everyone on Kinja.

Going to someone's profile only shows what they've posted or starred, there's no place for any actual data on the person, be it a short bio or even a twitter handle. There's no way to directly contact them either. If Gawker network is using free content that users post for their front pages, I think at the very least there should be some way for people to connect with that author other than just hitting a follow button.

Anywho, that's my idea that's been simmering for several months. If you have made it through the whole post, I salute you! And here's some caturday gifs.
