IOC says Olympics are not for politics, plays right into Russian politics anyway

So, in response to the recent controversy about Russia's anti-gay laws the International Olympic Committee has decided that not only will they not do anything to protect any LGBT athletes but they might also punish any athletes speaking in support of LGBT rights.

In its statement, the IOC said it would "treat each case individually and take a sensible approach depending on what was said or done."

Because tolerating and inevitably supporting human rights violations is a "sensible approach".
