Legendary comics artist/writer/editor Carmine Infantino has passed away at the age of 87

A key creative force of the Silver Age of comics, a sample of Infantino's legacy includes the following feats:

  • He helped create Barry Allen, the 2nd Flash, and came up with the iconic Flash costume that has pretty much remained unchanged to this day.
  • Infantino was also a key creative force behind the "New Look" overhaul of Batman during the Silver Age; during which period, he helped create Barbara Gordon, the 1st Batgirl, and one of the most famous superheroine of all time
  • Under his watch DC hired some blossoming comic creators by the names of Jack Kirby, Dennis O'Neal, Neal Adams, Joe Kubert, and Dick Giordano
