This conversation got me wondering. We all talk about how we are currently living in the future (minus jet packs, flying cars and hover boards, of course). What is the most science fictional place you've ever been in the real world?
As I said in that link, I would have to vote for the Very Large Array in New Mexico.
Not only are the dishes mind-boggling in their size, but unless you live in the desert the setting feels like someplace not of this Earth.
Getting there is a surreal journey through an endless no-man's land.
Once you get there you're confronted with this towering monument of science and technology.
Then you realize that it's all there so that we can listen to the stars. How cool is that?
