Marvel’s Marie Severin died earlier this week and news is breaking that Gary Friedrich has also passed away.

Severin, 89, had suffered a stroke recently. As an artist and colourist there probably isn’t a Marvel title that she didn’t touch, but my favourites are probably Tales to Astonish issues of the Incredible Hulk and early Defenders.

Friedrich, 75, wrote Sgt Fury, Captain Savage, Combat Kelly, Monster of Frankenstein, assorted westerns including Rawhide Kid and the Ghost Rider, the Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider and Son of Satan for Marvel. he also scripted Steve Ditko’s first Blue Beetle and took over the weekly Captain Britain from Chris Claremont.
