Stargate: Origins is going to be a live-action prequel set before SG1, set to air on yet another new streaming service. The show will feature Catherine Langford, who was the engineer who tried to get the Earth gate to work before Sam and Daniel.

There aren’t a lot of details and I’m not sure what they’re aiming for because from what I remember Catherine never went through the Stargate, but there will be ten 10-minute long episodes. There was no announcement about the airdate besides sometime in 2017, but who knows? The teaser trailer doesn’t contain any new footage.

I’m tentatively excited about this. Considering they’re using Catherine I’m guessing (and hoping) they’ve scrapped the horrible idea of rebooting the franchise and letting Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin do their worst.

The show will be on a new streaming service called Stargate Command (I’m sure they could have found a better name) that will apparently be dedicated to all things Stargate, which is an interesting concept.
