And good news, everybody! Well, good news if you reside on or near the Pacific Ocean. They're forecasting a lower than average number of named storms for that side of the globe. For the Atlantic side the news is decidedly less good.

Similar to the previous prediction by Accuweather, the NOAA is predicting between 13 - 20 named storms with 7 - 11 of them becoming hurricanes. Average numbers are 12 storms, of which 6 become hurricanes. These numbers aren't predictions of landfall chances of the storms. There is just no way to predict that more than a few days in advance. Luckily for us, the NOAA is facing a budget crisis as a result of our country's fiscal screwiness so I'm sure that won't be an issue for us.

Guess the Hurricane Hunters will just have to make some extra flights.
