Watching season6 of The Mentalist (is anyone still watching that here? Not one of our staple shows, but the tone fits here quite well, I think.)

The one where he is finally about to catch Red John, killer of his family. And goes to church the episode before that. I was - so angry. Patrick Jayne is the only atheist character in an American show I can think of who's atheist out of persuasion, because he's a skeptic, and not because of the tragedy that hit him. Making it seem that he is looking for God in that situation seemed - so out of character, finally playing the "he's just angry at God, he'll find back to Him eventually"- card after 6 seasons.

And then it turns out he just set up an elaborate trap in the church and was not there for God thing. Nice one. You had me fooled, Mentalist.
