So FILM CRIT HULK wrote this take on GamerGate yesterday and it is honestly one of the best essays on the subject I've read.
He's rather unabashed in his criticism of the movement but he also speaks with a lot of compassion for those who've been swept up in it. He covers a lot of ground in discussing what the movement's greater significance is within our culture and not only why it's important but why so many people honestly don't see it for what it is. He also touches a bit on the end of True Detective (which makes sense in context).
Honestly, you should read it. As long as you can get past FILM CRIT HULK's idiosyncratic writing style, of course.
