Turns out, it is hard to get good pictures of giraffes. There heads are waaaayyy up there with nothing but blue sky behind them and it can be a struggle to get the exposure right. Also hard to frame them. I have lots of silhouettes of giraffes that we saw in the morning when the sun was not directly behind us. Fortunately, when you take 5,000 pictures, a few come out.
These are all Masai giraffes. That's why the spots look different than the reticulated giraffes you usually see in zoos.
I have lots of pictures of juveniles, but unless you can get an adult in the frame for scale, it is hard to tell.
One way to tell is by the horns. That fur rubs off as they get older.
