Miscalibrated Internet Receptor Stalks

Hello people of Observation Deck, it’s that time of the week again. SO what’s been going on over the last week.

Here in the UK (and most of Europe and parts of Asia and now Australia) it was Eurovision 2016, a ‘singing’ competition where everyone votes purely based on which country they like the most. This year Ukraine won, after destroying Australia’s 100 point lead, due to being the most popular in the public vote while Australia dominated the professional jury vote. The UK, being shite as per usual, only managed a measly 62 points (third from bottom), of which only 8 were from the public vote. Ukraine won with the politically charged 1944 which was about the Soviet deportation of the Crimean Tartars, a song that caused massive backlash due to the nature of the song. Despite this however it will never top the absurd brilliance (and pure Eurovision camp) of Ukraine’s Dancing Lasha Tumbai from Eurovision 2004 which featured a man in drag basically telling Putin to fuck off (‘Lasha Tumbai’ rhymes with ‘Russia Goodbye’).

So that’s what happened here. What are your plans for the weekend?
