In conversation with a Farsi speaker today, she aligned Iran more with Quebec in that they swear primarily religiously, not like so much of English profanity which is sex, genitalia, and excrement. What other languages or cultures do you know of and where do they save their deepest language offence for?

I've never actually been able to usefully etymologically break down Jamaican swearing, and I don't know if the meanings are accessible enough to be meaningful. We "Fuck!" and "Lord have mercy!" as much as the next culture, but I couldn't tell you what a (rather mild) "rahtid!" was really about.
