Dr. Louis LaPierre, until recently Professor Emeritus of the Unversite de Moncton's Biology department, chair of the Institute for Environmental Monitoring and Research, which makes recommendations to the Canadian Government over low-level training flights in Labrador, Tribunal Review Officer for the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, and a bunch of other high profile Canadian Environmental Science organizations, was recently shown to have lied about his academic credentials. After 35 years of working in the fields of Biology and Environmental Science it was uncovered that Dr. LaPierre does not have a PhD in Ecology, but instead has a PhD in Education.

His former students are left wondering what this means for their careers, and it brings into question the work he did on governmental advisory panels over the years. Imagine finding out your Masters or PhD supervisor was a fraud!

At least one researcher is saying that LaPierre's work with the Institute for Environmental Monitoring and Research seemed to be motivated by politics rather than by science, and that LaPierre glossed over findings that wildlife was not adapting to low level flight training by military aircraft in Labrador.
