We lost another great actor, unfortunately. According to his best friend, Beau Bridges, the great Powers Boothe died today at age 68.
Besides having an awesome sounding name, Powers Boothe has been in many, many movies and television shows, ranging from the more recent Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. playing the leader of Hydra, Gideon Malick, to the cartoon Justice League, where he voiced Gorilla Grodd, to Deadwood, playing the devious Cy Tolliver. In 1980, he won an Emmy Award for playing Jim Jones in Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones.
Powers Boothe is actually the second Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actor to die this year. Bill Paxton, who played John Garret in the first season, died in February of this year. Paxton actually directed Boothe in a movie, the 2001 film Frailty.
