Do I need to explain this every week? Most of you know how this goes, if there are any newbies you can check out my original post, and all the instalments so far are in the 'RadioSilence Watches Marvel' tag.
A small word of warning, though. I've never watched any of these movies, and know basically nothing about comic books or the culture that surrounds them. The fun in this for me is that I really don't know anything about what's coming up and what I think I know is probably wrong, please don't spoil me on what's to come. Thanks.
So lets get on with the next movie: Thor!
Is that Natalie Portman? Nobody told me she was in this! I think I recognise the other girl and the guy, too.
Did they kill Thor? Is that the end of the film?
Where did he come from? you were driving over the desert in a storm at fifty miles an hour. At night. I think he would be asking you the same question.
Has Thor got a Norwegian accent? But Hopkins is using his own Welsh? Actually, I don't know where the guy who plays Thor is from. Kid-Thor seemed to have an English accent though, so… we'll see.
The Loki actor (Tom something) has an English accent. I know he's a Brit but I think he's Scottish? Am I getting too caught up in accents?
That long jetty thing over the sea has a Deathstar level of no handrails.
She's never going to be able to fight in those heels. Then again, we know what happens with capes, so maybe she'll fare better than Thor.
Ooh, Errol Flynn bought it!
Ice dragon? Ice dragon!
Thor uses special move: lightening strike! He'll have to wait a few minutes for it to recharge if he wants to do it again, though.
Here comes Odin, riding his horse which is, if I'm not mistaken, Loki's child? So Odin's grandchild. Nice way to treat the family there, Odin.
Nice sweater, Thor. Did you have that on under you armour?
She tazed Thor :)
So this is some kind of King Arthur, sword in the stone thing?
So how come Heimdall didn't get an earbashing for letting the kids ride on the magic space slide to frost giant land?
Ah, Errol Flynn's not dead! That ice spike through the chest was but a flesh wound.
Arrogant, dangerous, reckless? Do I feel a Top Gun quote coming on? "You're everyone's problem. That's because every time you go up in the air, you're unsafe. I don't like you because you're dangerous." OK, now I want fanfiction with Thor as Maverick and Loki as Iceman.
Well done, Loki, you just gave your dad a heart attack. But hey, I was spot on about Loki being Iceman.
Another serious lack of hand rails there. Asgardian Health and Safety would have a field day!
"Meow-meow? What's meow-meow?" I like this girl :)
Facebook? Ipod? How old is this movie?
We must speak with you urgently. A freak super glue explosion has stuck out hands to our chests!
A library? How old is this movie?
I'm still not getting his accent. If it is meant to be Norwegian or Swedish wouldn't the scientist guy have asked him about it?
A rainbow bridge? Isn't that a level in Mario Kart?
Oh shit, meow-meow's not letting him pick it up.
You're calling Vikings primitive? I don't like this girl.
Renaissance fair? More like comiccon.
Go on Heimdall my son, I knew you weren't a gonner.
There we go, I told you handrails were needed.
So are they aliens; Thor and his like? I can't say aliens were something I thought would be in these movies, but then I think maybe that's why Guardians of the Galaxy seemed so off-kilter to me as they're just about all aliens, and they're set in the same universe/timeline/continuum. I suppose aliens makes as much sense as gods.
'Thor will return in The Avengers' that's so Bond-esque.
Loki you fucker!
Ok, so I looked up Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. Turns out Chris is Australian and Tom is English. I've no idea why I thought he was Scottish. Maybe Hiddleston sounds like a Scottish place name? I've only ever seen him in GIFs or captioned images before and I always read his lines in a Scottish accent. But Hemsworth's Australian? I'd never have guessed it. That definitely wasn't an Aussie accent he was doing in the film. And there's no reason for him not to, he's an alien with an English accented brother and a Welsh accented dad.
OK, I liked it. Not quite as much as the Iron Man ones, but better than Hulk. I think this worked best as a setup for stuff to come - Thor was a huge arrogant prick with his group of entitled jocky friends at the start, I really didn't like any of them, but then had some experiences that made him see the world differently and made him not so self-centred - so I'm looking forward to the next time we see him, which may or may not be The Avengers. I mean, I don't see him showing up in Captain America but you never know.
