Miscalibrated Internet Receptor Stalks
Miscalibrated Internet Receptor Stalks

In honor of today's date and the general upswing in Hasselhoff-related posts over the last week or so, I suddenly feel obligated to post the intro for season two of Baywatch Nights.

As you may remember, Nights was conceived as a police procedural-themed spinoff of the parent series, created to capitalize on the early '90s popularity of hard-hitting cop dramas like NYPD Blue, Homicide, and Law & Order. (Future L&O star Angie Harmon was Hasselhoff's sidekick on the series.) Baywatch Nights was intended to be just as intense and uncompromising, except every now and then Yasmine Bleeth would appear. But by the time it aired, crime shows had fallen by the wayside, and X-Files ripoffs were all the rage. So Nights went paranormal, with Mitch and the gang fighting a variety of mostly sea-based supernatural and sci-fi creatures. (There was also a mummy, a werewolf and a thawed-out Viking, though not in the same episode, sadly. Maybe Yasmine Bleeth was in one or more of those. I certainly hope so.)

I think the whole thing's on YouTube. Someday I will get very drunk and watch them all, or at least the ones guest-starring Yasmine Bleeth. I hope everyone here will be willing to join me. If you have a particular program from the '90s you would like to suggest as an alternative, please post it here.
