If you caught Elizabeth Is Missing last week, Glenda Jackson’s return to the small screen, she is back on Christmas Day. This time though, it is on Radio 4 or online if you can’t catch the broadcast. She joins Kit Harrington in Neil Gaiman’s Chivalry, a tale of a woman who finds the Holy Grail in a charity shop.
Gaiman will also be reading from his books on Radio 3 and Radio 4 with some musical interludes from the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Guests include David Tennant and Amanda Palmer.
Radio 4 will also be broadcasting an adaptation of Mr Pye, a satire of good and evil, by Gormenghast creator Mervyn Peake.
Face-fit shavers at the ready? Next Sunday, Radio 4 Extra launches Dan Dare, 21st Century Spaceman, a two-part documentary in which Science journalist Richard Hollingham probes whether the reality of space exploration is catching up with the Dan Dare universe.
Having discussed that science, it promptly gets chucked out of the window for the opening installment of the award-winning B7/Big Finish Dan Dare: Reign of the Robots, allegedly based on a comic serial of the same name. Listen at your peril.
