So, by and large, I'm not a fan of Rob Zombie's films.

That doesn't mean I dislike all of his films; on the contrary, I liked House of a 1,000 Corpses for what it was and I loved the hell out of The Devil's Rejects, but everything else he's directed just fell kind of flat for me.

Until today.

Currently I'm about halfway through the movie and I've got to say, it's like nothing he's ever done before. It still has a lot of the Zombie-ish elements I roll my eyes at (like his constant nepotism bordering on Helena Bonham Carter-level obsession with his wife, Sheri Moon Zombie), but at the same time it feels like a love letter to Stanley Kubrick.

It's genuinely captivating and at times during it has raised goosebumps on my arms, something very few movies have ever been able to do.

I've just now reached the point in the movie that my screenshot came from and I just had to take a breather from it, so I figured I might as well post here about my experience with it so far.

If you've a mind to check out a creepy movie for Halloween, this one could be a decent addition to your list.
