If you have been watching commercial tv in the UK this holiday season you might have noticed the odd advertisement for cat food, energy drinks and furniture cut away to breaking news of an alien incursion. All of which was a prelude to this cautionary tale of alien invasion.
The best sci-fi short of the year? It seems familiar.
It reminds me of a story Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby and Gene Colan told multiple times over. It invariably ended with the invaders being flushed away, eaten by dogs, whacked by fly swatters, trodden on, or wiped out in all kinds of incidents that meant they didn’t appreciate the vagaries of scale. The spirit of Tim Boo Ba lives on.
The ad is the creation of Thinkbox, a marketing body representing the interests of commercial telly, and is intended to illustrate the power of television advertising.
I just hope Steve Ditko got a paycheck!
