It's all gone a bit quiet on the gaming front, as the dust settles on Bioshock Infinite week and Easter passes us by. What are you doing other than stuffing your face full of left over chocolate and/or watching the new seasons of Game of Thrones and Doctor Who? Tell us about it in this week's Tuesday Game Room!
What have you been playing this week?
Go on, have a guess at what I've been doing.
Damn right. I finished Bioshock Infinite over the weekend! I won't say much here, other than to redirect you to my post discussing it here - beware of spoilers in that by the way! - and repeat that it's one of the most incredibly satisfying gaming experiences in a long time. If you play one new game this year, and I mean PLAY it, make sure it's this one.
New Releases!
Yeah... not much going on this week. Defiance, the game portion of Syfy's MMO/TV show cross media project is out this week, and in a stunning display of 'Oh, Japan!', Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is making its way to the Xbox 360 and PS3 - that's right, the Wii U port of Ninja Gaiden 3 is being ported back... to the consoles Ninja Gaiden 3 was on in the first place. Third time's a charm, right Team Ninja?
On the downloadables front, the two rather fun PSP GTA games make their way to PSN - Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. On the XBLA, the long awaited next game from The Behemoth, Battleblock Theater, is out Wednesday. I've been waiting for this game for 5 years and I still have no idea what it is.
Anyone picking up something new this week, or dipping back into your backlog?
And now, the News
Once again it's time for a few select picks from the last week of Gaming news, via Eurogamer:
- Creative Assembly announces Total War: Arena, a Free 2 Play MOBA-slash-RTS-slash... thing? - This sounds like it could be really interesting. I love that CA are trying new things with the Total War franchise!
- Epic Games shows off Unreal Engine 4 on PC and PS4 - Want to see how pretty the next generation might be? Watch these two gorgeous tech demos from last week's Game Developers Conference.
- Battlefield 4 is very real and very pretty, watch 17 minutes of it in HD 60FPS glory - Also shown off at GDC was Battlefield 4, running in the new version of Frostbite. Digital Foundry goes a little crazy and gives you the optimal method for watching the full, highest quality version of the footage. It's pretty amazing.
- A Closer look at Bioshock Infinite's Hall of Heroes - Here's an in-depth analysis of one of Infinite's coolest chapters, the chillingly effective Hall of Heroes. But be warned: If you've NOT finished Bioshock Infinite, do NOT read this article!
We'll be back this time next Tuesday for more gaming discussion, but for now, sound off in the comments with the games you've been playing, and what you're looking forward to this week!
