I was expecting a delivery tomorrow, but Amazon says it is coming today. It is Sunday, but Amazon delivers on Sunday. I don’t want it to sit out since it is snowing (in mid April in Chicago FFS, but that is another post) so I just checked and Amazon tells me “the driver is six stops away” with a map that actually shows me roughly where he is.
This is why William Gibson stopped writing science fiction for a while. Gawkmodo can write all the hate pieces about Jeff Bezos that they want and I’m sure he is not perfect, but compared to technology from just a few years ago, or USPS, this is mindblowing.
