As a rule, I don't really like maudlin or sentimental stuff. Something like The Fault In Our Stars just isn't made for me, because I know that it's deliberately designed to make me all verklempt inside, and honestly, the thought of watching saintly teenagers die for two hours just isn't my bag, man. (That Booth guy sounds like a decent sort, and I bet the movie is very well-made and acted, but yeah, not interested.)
What I do like are little scenes that sneak up on you, that give you little shivers of just pure emotion, while putting everything else in the movie (or book, TV show, comic, game, etc.) totally in perspective. I hadn't seen The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou in ages, but man, that ending in the sub just hit me like a ton of bricks. And so, I have to ask, ODeck, what is your Jaguar Shark Moment? (My alternate choice is hidden in the tag.)
What was the thing you completely didn't see coming and got past your defenses, or a scene that unpredictably broke your heart... or put it back together again? SPOILERS, of course.
