... and not from the POV of a white Bruce Wayne?
No it's not the start of a horribly racist joke, I just don't understand the fascination with changing an established characters gender or race just "because".
This morning on my way to work I was listening to the radio as the subject turned to superheroes. The host went on a ten minute tirade about how racist Hollywood is by not casting black or asian people as popular superheroes, using Batman and Ben Affleck's casting as proof.
Bruce Wayne is white. I'm sorry but he is. What would making him black accomplish beyond people saying "Oh, he's black now. neat."
To be honest, I wouldn't mind a change like that if there is a good reason for it. There needs to be a story reason why THIS Bruce Wayne is black or asian or a woman. If there isn't then what is the point?
Why not do something similar to Ultimate Spider-Man? Mile Morales is his own character, not just a black Peter Parker. I love Miles (and apparently so do a lot of people since he's being put into the mainstream marvel universe), and would love to see a movie about him.
Anyway, that's my morning rant without my usual 3 cups of coffee.
