In nerddom, we're often asking ourselves "What?" (What are your favorite examples of this, what are the worst offenders for that?) And occasionally "How?" (How does the Flux Capacitor allow for time travel?) But we ask ourselves "Why?" much less often. In what may become an ongoing series, I want to remedy that.
So here, goes: Why do you read or watch science fiction? Are you fascinated by the possibilities that new technology affords? Do you love the potential the genre has for exploring the issues of the present? Are you intrigued by the social and personal implications of alien life? Or do you just simply thing spaceships are awesome?
