Today is World Book Day! Kind of. They hold it in March in Ireland.
But I'll take any excuse to talk about books.
Which books have you read that you feel changed you? Which books have you read that have inspired you? Which books have you read that completely altered the way you thought about something?
For my part, many of the books that have changed me (I hope for the better) have been genre fiction. The Hobbit taught me to love to read. Frankenstein taught me to think about humanity. Where the Red Fern Grows taught me about sacrifice and loss. All of Tamora Pierce's books taught me to think about feminism.
Each book changes me, I suppose, in some small way. I wouldn't read them if they didn't.
