This is the response i got to a troll/commenter complaint i made.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us and for your feedback. Trolls are an unfortunate part of our – and most other sites – ecosystem. The best course of action when encountering one would be to ignore them. We make trolls easy to deal with by giving the community tools such as the block and dismiss options. A blog admin will have to make this judgement on an troll account. I’ve reviewed the post history for the account in question and they haven’t violated our Terms of Use, so there is no action I can take on the account – this one boils down to an editorial decision.

I’ve forwarded your complaint to the author of the post who has the power to dismiss the post and block the user’s replies from ever appearing on io9 again. Ultimately, the decision on most suitable action is her call.
