TechCrunch has tested the new iPhone's relatively broad definition of "fingerprint" with its new fingerprint sensor and lock. Darrell Etherington borrowed a cat to see if paw prints were unique enough to set up and consistently access a user profile, and it turns out that they are! Etherington says that no other cats were able to unlock the profile, and that while it had a higher failure rate than a human fingerprint, when correctly positioned the cat's paw was able to gain access to the new iPhone.
